America, according to a recent Greendex Survey, is the least green consuming nation in the world. We go all out, so really, there's not much of a surprise.

We got the lowest score on public transit use; the highest score on number of people who have never used public transit; lowest locally grown food consumption; and least green housing. For what it's worth.

I actually don't think not using transit is that big of deal. Because if do consider that, than you also need to include per capita land area. By that measure most European countries are much more dense and thus more polluting per acre, and able to more easily access public transit.
