We at RTM have some free time. To fill it, we occasionally watch C-Span, which we did for a while today. We have some thoughts.
Is Bipartisanship real? Does anyone actually give a single thought to real bipartisanship? I only ask because no party actually seems interested in working together, unless they are out of power, which isn't a surprise. Lindsey Graham today railed for 15 minutes against the stimulus package. About how it is not stimulative, does not take the concerns of the Republicans seriously, and won't be accepted by the public. Then Max Baucus had about 15 minutes, where he said that Democrats are working with Republicans, the package is stimulative, and the public wants the bill.
They'll vote on it, it will probably be along party lines, maybe a few crossover votes, and they'll move on. Save your time and stop asking for bipartisanship, which no one actually wants. Unless your in the minority.
I guess the message is, don't watch C-Span.

I love CSPAN!
and no, there is no bipartisanship. However, Frank Luntz (the awful GOP pollster but you knew that) had an interesting opinion piece where he endorsed the stimulus package, on the grounds that it focus more on infrastructure development. According to his research over 90% of people believe that would be helpful.
It was in the LA Times. I forget how I found it.
So what am I saying? Bipartisanship? Outside of politics it exists, within it does not.
